Alternatives to
Coffee: The Many Options
There are
many alternatives to coffee to be found. Many people like to
have a designated morning drink or an energy boost but may not
want the caffeine or theobromine associated with regular
coffee. Most health food stores carry various alternatives to
coffee. Among the most popular alternatives to coffee in health
food stores are barley-based powder, carob (which is a
chocolate substitute), dandelion root and chicory-based
powders. Additionally, soy-based alternatives to coffee have
been developed that are widely accepted as the alternatives to
coffee that most closely resemble coffee.
For those who dont mind caffeine
and other byproducts of coffee, but just simply dont like the
taste, there are other alternatives to coffee to be found. Of
course, the most popular alternative to coffee is tea. There
are as many types of tea to choose from as coffees, if not
more. Tea can be found in caffeinated or decaffeinated
varieties. Additionally, teas have a wider variety of flavors
available to consumers, either through the natural breed of the
tealeaf, or through production additives.
Energy drinks as alternatives to
coffee have become very popular recently. These energy drinks
are often carbonated, cold beverages that contain caffeine and
other stimulants to give the drinker a boost of energy in the
morning as an alternative to coffee. Because the large soda
companies generally manufacture these energy drinks, large
advertising campaigns have been devoted to them and have been
especially geared towards a younger consumer, who may be
looking for alternatives to coffee.
